Melt in your mouth Cinnamon Rolls
Ingredients:
For the dough:
1 cup warm milk
2 eggs
1/3 cup butter, melted
4 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 tsp salt
1/2 cup white sugar
2 1/2 tsp active dry yeast
For the filling:
1 cup brown sugar, packed
2 1/2 tbsp ground cinnamon
1/3 cup butter, softened
For the frosting:
1/2 cup butter, softened
1 1/2 cups confectioners' sugar
1/4 cup cream cheese, softened
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
1/8 tsp salt
Instructions:
In a large bowl, combine warm milk, melted butter, and sugar. Stir until the sugar dissolves, then add in the yeast. Let the mixture sit for about 10 minutes or until it becomes foamy.
Add in the eggs and salt, and mix well.
Gradually add in the flour, one cup at a time, stirring well after each addition until a dough forms.
Knead the dough on a floured surface until it becomes smooth and elastic. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about an hour or until it has doubled in size.
Preheat the oven to 350°F.
In a small bowl, mix together the brown sugar and cinnamon for the filling.
Roll out the dough on a floured surface until it is about 1/4 inch thick. Spread the softened butter over the dough, then sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mixture on top.
Roll up the dough tightly, starting from the long side. Cut the roll into 12 equal pieces.
Place the cinnamon rolls in a greased 9x13 inch baking pan. Cover with a towel and let them rise in a warm place for about 30 minutes.
Bake the cinnamon rolls in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until they are golden brown.
While the cinnamon rolls are baking, make the frosting. In a medium bowl, beat together the butter, cream cheese, confectioners' sugar, vanilla extract, and salt until it becomes smooth and creamy.
When the cinnamon rolls are done, remove them from the oven and let them cool for a few minutes before spreading the frosting on top.
